SGS Olveston United Women are delighted to confirm their sixth signing of the summer with the arrival of Hannah Fletcher!
‘Fletch’ arrives at BS34 after a season hiatus following the birth of her son but brings with her a wealth of experience across steps five and six courtesy of previous spells with Portishead Town and Almondsbury. The experienced right back has long been a target of the SGS Olveston United management and her arrival adds further experience and competition to the O’s defence.
29-year-old Fletcher spent four seasons at Portishead Town where she helped secure a league and cup double in an unbeaten 2016/17 season before winning a consecutive promotion the following season into the SWWFL Premier Division. During her time with Portishead Fletcher also chipped in with some valuable goals before moving to Almondsbury (now St Valliers) ahead of the 2020/21 season.
First Team Assistant Manager Mark Butt gave us his reaction to the latest addition “Fletch is a great character and a perfect fit for us, she brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the group and has instantly looked at home since joining. While she is still building back up her fitness levels after a season out, she has certainly not shied away from putting in the hard work on and off the pitch.”
Butt continued “Coming in at stage of pre-season means that Fletch is a little behind the rest of the group especially after a season out but we are working closely with her to get her match fit although its important we dont rush that process and risk an injury. Once she is ready, which I don’t think will be long, she will add real competition to our defensive options and her experience at this level cannot be underestimated.”
