SGS Olveston United Women are delighted to confirm their eighth signing of the summer with the arrival of Amelia Burnham!
Burnham may be familiar to some having been part of our Reserves side last season where she impressed hugely with former Reserve team manager Alex Giles De Brincat quickly identifying Burnham as a future first team player. The 23 year old has rotated her time between the first team and reserves training sessions for some time now continuing to demonstrate her fantastic potential and has being rewarded with a move to the first team for the 2023/24 season!
Burnham is an exciting winger who can also play on either the left or right wing but is also a threat from a centre forward position and with her rapid pace she has the danger to cause opposition defence real issues. Before joining SGS Olveston United last season Burnham had been plying her trade at the University of Manchester where she was also involved in coaching the 4th and 5th teams.
First Team Assistant Manager Mark Butt said “Amelia has been on our radar for some time now via our player pathway and since she started training with the first team she has demonstrated all the qualities we look for in a player. She is like a sponge, she wants to learn and improve and I believe she will only continue to get better and better as the season progresses.”
Butt finished by saying “Amelia is a really exciting talent and her pace is frightening, she just seems to glide past players as if they are standing still and that is a great attribute to have and I think she could have a big impact on games this season.”
